Timely referral by a trained healthworker to Save the Children supported Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) in Tonk came as a blessing to Kartik. However, not many children are as fortunate as Kartik. In India, 48% children under five are malnourished. These children fail to receive crucial medical care needed at the time of child birth due to lack of proper medical support, absence of anganwadi centres and trained healthcare professionals. Like Kartik, there are many children in different corners of India, who are severely malnourished and are deprived of proper care and treatment after birth.
